Church has history of clergy switching sides

ST Thomas of Canterbury is wellknown for its clergy joining theCatholic church, but the current man in charge has no intention ofswitching yet.

The vicar, the Rev Colin Hewitt, classes himself as atraditionalist like many of his predecessors and is among thoseagainst the mooted ordination of female bishops.

But while others are so disillusioned they have turned to theVatican, Mr Hewitt said he will not consider a move until a finaldecision is made over the controversial bishops idea.
