Troy Joseph's House and Shelter is raffling off a Newport-style dollhouse valued at $2,500 to help raise funds to meet the increased needs of the homeless during the summer months.
Tracy Neitzel, program director at the shelter, said in a statement that the agency shelters more homeless people during the summer than at any other time of the year. She said the occupancy rate in the summer is 93 percent while the average annual rate is between 70 and 80 percent.
The statement said many people support the homeless during the cold months of winter but donations drop off during the summer when the numbers of homeless increase. Neitzel said the dollhouse will help …
