FED: Separating parents encouraged to agree to joint custody

Parents who separate will reportedly be encouraged to agree to joint custody of their
children under a new federal government proposal.

The Sydney Morning Herald newspaper says federal cabinet has endorsed a two-year trial
of a families tribunal.

It says the tribunal aims to cut the workload of the Family Court.
