NSW: Child care crash driver says thinking of injured toddlers
The driver of a car which crashed into a Sydney child-care centre, critically injuring
two sleeping toddlers, has spoken for the first time about the tragic accident.
Police are yet to interview 68-year-old DONALD McNEALL, whose Holden commodore ploughed
into the Roundhouse facility last Monday, injuring two-year-olds MOLLY WOOD and SOPHIE
DELEZIO.
MOLLY has burns to 80 per cent of her body and is fighting for her life at Westmead
Children's Hospital after undergoing skin grafts.
SOPHIE has burns to 60 per cent of her body and is in critical condition at the same hospital.
Mr McNEALL has told the Sunday Telegraph he remembers nothing of the crash that happened
on his way home to Manly, until he woke up looking at the ceiling of an ambulance.
He says the injured children have been on his mind and as soon as he's up to it, he'll
visit them.
Manly Council has erected temporary barriers along the front of the child care centre
while more permanent road-safety options are investigated.
